Changes to the Trash & Recycling ProgramThe Borough of Perkasie has made some changes to its trash and recycling program. Along with those changes, you will see a difference in the appearance of your Recycle Center. The Borough has added a once a month yard waste drop-off program to the Recycling Center. The Borough will accept yard waste on the first Saturday of the month from 7:30 am-3:30 pm. PLEASE NOTE THE TIME. Yard waste must be in a paper bag or loose in cans. Plastic bags filled with yard waste will not be accepted and trash may not be mixed in with yard waste. Grass clippings will not be accepted at this drop-off event and will continue to be picked up curbside in a Borough bag. There will be a roll-off container set at the Recycle Center where residents will be assisted by a Borough employee in dropping off their yard waste. Residents must show the proper ID, a driver’s license and Borough electric bill with matching addresses, before unloading material. The first change to the Recycling Center that you will notice is the addition of painted lines designating travel lanes, parking areas, and no parking areas. Please click here to view a diagram to see how the changes will affect you and your system of recyclable material drop-off. We are asking users of the center to obey the designated No Parking areas and utilize the marked parking areas. Access to the yard waste container will be gained by driving thru the center of the recycling area, bearing to the right and parking near the yard waste container (see diagram). After unloading your yard waste material, please exit back thru the Center. Also, take notice to the caution area painted in the parking lot. Please be aware as you access this area to look out for vehicles exiting the Recycle Center. The paper and cardboard trailer and the commingled bins will continue to be in the same location. We are encouraging residents to bring their recyclable material to the center in bins or buckets. Bins are available for purchase at the Borough hall for $7.50. Residents are also strongly encouraged to use bins or buckets for curbside collection also as plastic bags are not recyclable thru our vendor. Please take all plastic bags to your local grocery store where they are recycled properly. The Borough DOES NOT accept large amounts of plastic bags at the Recycle Center. We are hopeful that these changes will make the drop-off of your recyclable material a safer and more efficient experience. We strongly encourage all users to be very aware of the vehicles entering and exiting the facility and to keep a special eye on young children as they help their family recycle. |
