Public WorksThe Borough of Perkasie operates its own trash and recycling collection program, maintains an extensive park system including a bike path, and maintains borough owned streets and properties through the Public Works department. The recycling program began in 1988 and has been a model for many communities nationwide. Perkasie uses a pay-as-you-throw system for household refuse. Trash must be placed in special plastic bags that are available at Borough Hall and selected area stores. For more information regarding Perkasie Borough's trash and recycling program see: Schedule and Rules & Regulations Streets within the borough limits but not owned by Perkasie Borough are Constitution Avenue, Walnut Street from Constitution to the Hilltown Township line, Callowhill Street beyond Main Street, and Blooming Glen from 5th Street to the East Rockhill Township line. For any comments or questions regarding the maintenance of the above mentioned streets, contact the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, #215-345-6060. For information on snow plowing and snow and ice removal see: Snow and Ice Removal Ordinance For more information regarding the Borough's park system see: Stormwater ManagementPrecipitation from rain or melting snow that flows over the ground creates stormwater runoff. Surfaces like streets, driveways, and sidewalks prevent runoff from being absorbed into the ground. Stormwater runoff flows into storm drains or directly into bodies of water. Stormwater runoff can pick up chemicals, debris, dirt and other pollutants that will contaminate our water. It is a common misconception among residents that stormwater is treated before it reaches the waterways. This assumption is false, and every thing picked up by the runoff empties into our natural waterways. By practicing healthy household habits residents can limit the pollution dumped into our storm drains, which empty into the waterways. Listed below are ways people can limit stormwater pollution.
