Family Fridays

Family Fridays are held the second Friday of the month, LOCATIONS VARY (see event for location)! Doors open at 6:00 pm for dinner, the entertainment begins at 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Family Friday runs October- April.

February 10, 2012 | MAD SCIENCE: "UP, UP AND AWAY" | Pennridge High School Cafeteria

Designed to introduce science to elementary age children.  This event will capture the audiences' interest and show how exciting science can be.  Included in the show are a variety of eye-popping demonstrations and experiments.  There will be plenty of opportunity for hands-on audience participation in this event.  Some demonstrations include the three states of matter, air pressure, a Hot Air Balloon, the Mad Science hovercraft, a giant size vortex generator and finally the Big Sneeze demonstration.

Everyone loves BINGO!  Come out and enjoy a fun night with your family.  With admission, each family member will be given one bingo card.  Extra cards will be sold for $0.50 each.  Prizes will be geared to the children.

Tickets may be purchased from Perkasie Borough Hall, 620 West Chestnut Street, weekdays from  8:00 am to 4:30 pm. - walk-ins only. There are no phone or Internet sales through Perkasie Borough.  ALL TICKET PURCHASES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE.

If you are interested in tickets, but Perkasie Borough is not convenient  to your location, you may call the Pennsylvania Recreation & Parks Society at 1-814-234-4272 to order tickets and have them mailed to you.  There is a one dollar handling fee for this service.

2011 Camps

Register for all camps at Perkasie Borough Hall, 620 West Chestnut Street any weekday between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm. Pre-registration must be done in person or by mail, you can also download the registration form, call or e-mail to request that the forms be sent to you. Payment must accompany the registration form(s). The Borough reserves the right to cancel or change any programs without sufficient registration.

Programs and events are automatically cancelled for inclement weather or emergencies. Perkasie Borough reserves the right to change or cancel any activities, events, or costs.


UK ELITE SOCCER CAMP

This program is based on teaching the fundamentals to beginners and improving the skills of those children who already know the game of soccer. U.K. Elite guarantees to improve every player that attends their camp through the best professional coaching staff and the most cutting edge curriculum. Each participant will receive a U.K. Elite/Reebok T-shirt, Reebok soccer ball, and an individual player evaluation. MEGA MULTI SPORT CAMP

Experience over fifteen different sports from around the world with the US Sports Institute. All activities will take place in an atmosphere which promotes good sportsmanship, teamwork, and most of all fun. Campers will receive technical instruction in each sport and experience the sport in a realistic game situation. This summer camp is dedicated to the sports minded youngster.

SPORT SQUIRTS

The US Sports Institute Sport Squirts Program has been designed to introduce young children to a variety of sports in a safe, structured environment. All games and activities will encompass hand/eye coordination, balance, agility, and movement - all key factors to the early development of children in sport. in addition to having a great time playing the different sports, children will develop social interaction and communication skills. All sports are developed through a series of games and activities designed to ensure learning and most importantly: FUN!

Mad Science CampS

 

SENSATIONAL SCIENCE WEEK II

Whether your child loves to build things or destroy them, this week of camp includes lots of both!  The junior Mad Science engineers will design and build bridges and "skyscrapers" and even construct a Geodesic Dome big enough for all the campers to sit inside!  Then the machine madness starts.  This journey will include many different machines, simple and complex, we use in our daily lives.  Campers will have fun building their own Catapults, Sonic Race Car and much more to take home from this awesome camp!

RADICAL REACTIONS & DETECTIVE SCIENCE

In this weeklong program, campers will have tons of fun mixing up potions and experimenting with all kinds of chemical reactions!  your young chemist will grow crystals, create sidewalk chalk, and even make chromatography t-shirts to take home.  Students will also become science sleuths as they investigate how chemistry provides evidence at the scene of a crime.  During this hands-on detective work, children will gather and test "crime scene" clues, make and analyze their own fingerprints, make Rainbow Stompers and much more!

SPACE: INFINITY & BEYOND

Join forces with Spirit Unlimited to expand each child's imagination and help them become the ultimate superhero.  Each superhero will have the opportunity to pick out a superhero costume of the day, make crafts that help them fight the battle against evil, and find out their true identity.  The curriculum includes the six pillars of character, costumes for each day (cleaned daily), trained and experienced staff instructors, arts, crafts, and games during break times, ribbons and award along with sports activities for each day of camp!

OPPORTUNITY BARKS DOG OBEDIENCE BEHAVIOR & TRAINING CAMP

"Saturdays In Perkasie" Event

Join us for "Saturdays in Perkasie", presented by the Perkasie Olde Towne Association.  This event will be held every Saturday of the month and will feature the Perkasie Farmers Market, live entertainment, business and restaurant specials.  Please click here for more info. The first event will be held on June 25th and it will continue through the summer.  The last event will be held on October 15th.  The fun begins at 8 am and will last until Noon.

Summer Concert Series

Join us Each Wednesday evening in July for our Concerts in the Park series. the concerts will be held from 7:00 to 9:00 pm in Menlo Park, located at Fifth Street and Park Avenue. All concerts are free of charge.

The Mango Men return again this year and will take you on the island in style through our energetic and unique blend of Rock'n'Roll with a Caribbean Soul. You can count on non-stop audience interaction from start to finish, highlighted by Jimmy Buffett-style tunes to rock favorites, with a little bit of kickin' country in the middle (nothin' too twangy!!!). We will get your guests singing, clapping, and feet moving, plus no show is complete without our ever-popular "How Low Can You Limbo" contest and our "Sing With the Band" segment.

Bus trips are available through the Perkasie Borough Parks and Recreation Department. The video and restroom equipped motor coaches will pick up and drop off registered participants at the Perkasie Borough office. Unless otherwise indicated, all trips are a full day, leaving about 7 or 8 am and returning about 6 pm. All costs are per person and include transportation and trip. September 24, 2011 | Grey Towers

Grey Towers Mansion is the family home of Gifford Pinchot, two-time governor of Pennsylvania and Father of the U.S. Forest Service, in Milford, PA.  This trip is the occasion of the annual Ice Cream, Social and Open House.  Lunch is at the famous and historic Hotel Fauchere.  As a bonus, we shall stop at Tannersville Premium Outlets.

Cost | $95.00 per person, includes motor coach transportation, all admissions, lunch, shopping coupons, and all tips.

 

Recreation Events

Community Garden

12'x12' and 12'x18' "year round" lots are available at the "Community Garden", 5th Street and Shadywood Drive. Initial tilling and water are provided. $25.00 per lot, $15.00 refund at the end of growing season, providing that the lot has been cleared and the water hydrant key returned. Lots will not be rolled over for the following year, so please drop off water keys and pick up deposits.

Community Yard Sale

Perkasie Borough's Sixth Annual Community Yard Sale will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2011 from 8am until 2pm in Lenape. Here's your opportunity to sell personal items you no longer want or need. Have all the benefits of a yard sale without having to advertise or hang signs! Spaces will be available to Perkasie Borough residents and non-residents. Those interested in participating must register in advance. The cost per space will be $10.00. Participants may park one vehicle in their space. this will be a rain or shine event. There will be some restrictions on the items that you will be permitted to sell. Stop in or call the Borough Office for details.  Please register by May 6, 2011.

For more information on Community Day, please click here.  The eleventh Annual "Lucky Ducky Derby" will take place on Sunday, July 10, 2011 - Community Day (rain date July 17th), Lenape Park. The race will begin after the canoe races in the East Branch Perkiomen Creek, by boat launch. The ducks will race to the "Twin Bridges".

First place winner will receive $100
Second place winner will receive $75
Third place winner will receive $50
Fourth thru ninth place winners will receive $25

PRIZES WILL BE AWARDED IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE RACE, SO STICK AROUND FOR THE RESULTS

Tickets for the numbered ducks may be purchased at the Perkasie Borough office or from Parks and Recreational Board members.

Cost | $3.00 each or 2 for $5.00


Fall Festival

October 2, 2011 from 12pm to 5pm at Menlo Park

Entertainment for all ages: petting zoo, demonstrations, scarecrow workshop, face painting, pie contest, sand art, pony rides, refreshments, crafters, vendors, children's rides, music, and much more!!

Craft space available - bring your own set-up
$25.00 per 10'x10' in the park
pre-registration is required for crafters, for information call the Borough office (215) 257-5065.

Creek Sweep

Second annual Creek Sweep. Looking for community service in your area? This event is open to all individuals and groups in and around the community who want to help clean our parks. this event would be held in June 2011. Our goal would be to clean up Lenape Park and the creek. At the end of the Creek Sweep we would hold a picnic lunch with a massive kickball game for all volunteers. Stop by Borough Hall for a registration form available in April.

 

Perkasie Garden Club Bi-Annual Garden Tour

Sunday, June 26, 2011 from Noon to 4:00 PM, rain or shine.  Garden raffle will be held at the Cannon Gardens of Menlo Park on the day of the tour.  Tour tickets are $12 in advance or $15 on the day of the tour.  tickets can be purchased beginning May 21st at Frederick's Flowers, Earthkeeper's at Rogers, Dublin Agway, Clair's Flower Shop, Contemporary Gardens, and at the club booth at Perkasie Springfest.  On the day of the tour, tickets can be purchased at the Menlo Park Gardens from Noon to 3 PM.
