Family Fridays

Family Fridays are held the second Friday of the month, LOCATIONS VARY (see event for location)! Doors open at 6:00 pm for dinner, the entertainment begins at 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Family Friday runs October- April.

March 12, 2010 | MAD SCIENCE: WILD & WACKY SCIENCE | Pennridge High School Cafeteria

The audience will learn what a polymer is and will get to watch a brave volunteer make a giant batch of slime with their bare hands!  They will also be amazed as the Mad Scientist uses science to melt the “Wicked Witch of the West” right before their eyes.  Next, the children will learn about static electricity from demonstrations with a Van de Graff generator.  One of the children will even get to touch the Van de Graff for a ‘hair raising” experience.  The event is rounded off with a few dry ice demonstrations and our popular Swoosh, Whoosh, Aaaah demonstration for all to enjoy!

October 8, 2010 | MAD SCIENCE: HALLOWEEN EVENT | Pennridge High School Cafeteria

Through a mixture of science and magic, the children will see a paper spider turn into a real "live" spider.  Hear the tales of Count Eggbert and Countess Eggberta as they battle the wicked witch. Watch as the wicked witch is melted right before your eyes! Then, as a grand finale, the Mad Scientist will introduce the audience to the eerie world of dry ice, making bubbling potions and lots of fearsome fog.  All will have an evening of gruesome goodness and fun!

The Holidays are a wonderful time of the year.  Full of magical stories, history, traditions and lots of fun and surprises.  The Polar Express will have every child wanting a bell and make their way to the North Pole.  How Santa fits so much into his sack and how he magically enters your house is some of the things that are demonstrated and explained.  Eric makes it a White Christmas complete with snow.  

January 14, 2011 | COOL BEANS BAND | Pennridge High School Cafeteria

Based in Bucks County, Steve Pullara is a New Jersey-born singer-songwriter-artist whose musical roots are rich with family inspiration and cultural traditions.  Kids and parents warm up quickly to Steve's good natured and energetic stage performances.  In concert, his entertaining mix of drawing and singing provides a diversity that makes his tunes very appealing to a wide variety of audiences.  

February 11, 2011 | MAD SCIENCE: "SPIN, POP, BOOM" | Pennridge High School Cafeteria

Designed to introduce science to elementary age children.  In it, the Mad Scientist will use simple but exciting science experiments and demonstrations to involve your group in the discovery process of science.  Included in the event will be such experiments as the "Growing Hand", "5 Test Tube Salute", the "Famous, Flaming Didgeridoo" and the "Fantastic Flying Foam Factory".  There will also be some opportunity for members of the audience to participate in a few of the experiments.

Discount ski tickets are available from December through March of each year for Camelback, Shawnee, Elk, Montage, Big-Two (Jack Frost and Big Boulder), Blue Mountain and Bear Creek.

With each ticket sold, Perkasie Borough Parks and Recreation earns 50¢ or more toward local parks and recreation projects. When purchasing your tickets at the Borough office you will save money while supporting your community.

ABSOLUTELY NO REFUNDS OR EXCHANGES! Please check with the mountain, as some mountains require weekend passes for holidays that fall on weekdays.

Discount Theme Park Tickets (CURRENTLY NOT AVAILABLE)

Discount theme park tickets are available at Perkasie Borough Hall from May through August each year for many local and out of state recreational facilities. The savings is significant on many of the tickets offered. Check discount prices here from April through August.

With each ticket sold, Perkasie Borough Parks and Recreation earns 50¢ or more toward local parks and recreation projects. When purchasing your tickets at the Borough office you will save money while supporting your community.

Tickets may be purchased from Perkasie Borough Hall, 620 West Chestnut Street, weekdays from  8:00 am to 4:30 pm. - walk-ins only. There are no phone or Internet sales through Perkasie Borough.  ALL TICKET PURCHASES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE.

If you are interested in tickets, but Perkasie Borough is not convenient  to your location, you may call the Pennsylvania Recreation & Parks Society at 1-814-234-4272 to order tickets and have them mailed to you.  There is a one dollar handling fee for this service.

2010 Camps

Register for all camps at Perkasie Borough Hall, 620 West Chestnut Street any weekday between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm. Pre-registration must be done in person or by mail, you can also download the registration form, call or e-mail to request that the forms be sent to you. Payment must accompany the registration form(s). The Borough reserves the right to cancel or change any programs without sufficient registration.

Programs and events are automatically cancelled for inclement weather or emergencies. Perkasie Borough reserves the right to change or cancel any activities, events, or costs.

UK ELITE SOCCER CAMP

This program is based on teaching the fundamentals to beginners and improving the skills of those children who already know the game of soccer. U.K. Elite guarantees to improve every player that attends their camp through the best professional coaching staff and the most cutting edge curriculum. Each participant will receive a U.K. Elite/Reebok T-shirt, Reebok soccer ball, and an individual player evaluation. MEGA MULTI SPORT CAMP

Experience over fifteen different sports from around the world with the US Sports Institute. All activities will take place in an atmosphere which promotes good sportsmanship, teamwork, and most of all fun. Campers will receive technical instruction in each sport and experience the sport in a realistic game situation. This summer camp is dedicated to the sports minded youngster.

YOUTH NFL FLAG FOOTBALL

Youth NFL Flag Football is one of the most popular and fastest growing youth sports programs in the nation.  Although boys comprise most of the participants, girl participation is rapidly on the rise!  Sponsored by the NFL, YNFL Flag Football is an exciting 50 minute, fast paced game of 5 against 5 flag football.  The game is played without contact and every player is an eligible receiver.  Each team has a maximum of 10 players.  You can register individually, request a teammate(s) or compile a complete team of 10.

AA Division: Boys/ girls ages 5-6 or in PreK/ Kindergarten

A Division: Boys/ girls ages 7-8 or 1st/ 2nd grade

B Division: Boys/ girls ages 9-11 or 3rd/ 4th/ 5th grade

C Division: Boys ages 12-14 or 6th/ 7th grade

Program is open to both Borough and Non-Borough residents.  Each participant receives an official Youth NFL Flag Football jersey and flag belts.  Each team receives two YNFL footballs.

SPORT SQUIRTS

The US Sports Institute Sport Squirts Program has been designed to introduce young children to a variety of sports in a safe, structured environment. All games and activities will encompass hand/eye coordination, balance, agility, and movement - all key factors to the early development of children in sport. in addition to having a great time playing the different sports, children will develop social interaction and communication skills. All sports are developed through a series of games and activities designed to ensure learning and most importantly: FUN!

Mad Science CampS

SPACE: INFINITY & BEYOND

Students explore the mysteries of the solar system and the science behind air & space travel.  Children discover not only how astronauts get into space, but also how they live and work once they get there.  In this advanced space program, we will investigate unique flying machines, including building balloon-copters, boomerangs and a mini hovercraft as take home projects for the children.

MAD MACHINES & JR. ENGINEERS

Whether your child loves to build things or destroy them, this week of camp includes lots of both!  The junior Mad Science engineers will design and build bridges and "skyscrapers" and even construct a Geodesic Dome big enough for all the campers to sit inside!  Then the machine madness starts.  This journey will include many different machines, simple and complex, we use in our daily lives.  Campers will have fun building their own Catapults, Sonic Race Car and much more to take home from this awesome camp!

MORE POWER TO YOU

CHEERLEADING CAMPS

OPPORTUNITY BARKS DOG OBEDIENCE BEHAVIOR & TRAINING CAMP

Summer Concert Series

Join us Each Wednesday evening in July for our Concerts in the Park series. the concerts will be held from 7:00 to 9:00 pm in Menlo Park, located at Fifth Street and Park Avenue. All concerts are free of charge. in the event of inclement weather, the concerts will be cancelled.

June 30, 2010 | The Large Flowerheads

A new addition to our summer concert series, the Large Flowerheads enthusiastically bring to life the musical sights and sounds of the 1960's. Imagine being part of the scene when the songs spoke of love, sunshine, and happiness.

July 7, 2010 | The Christopher Dean Band

Based out of the Central New Jersey area, the band travels up and down the eastern seaboard like a well-greased machine, playing regional blues and soul while offering good times for all.

Another new addition to our summer concert series, Thunder Creek hails from Eastern Pennsylvania where they play their hard driving style of bluegrass, twin fiddle Cajun, and smooth country which allows them to appeal to everyone's taste as they win over a crowd.

July 21, 2010 | The "KHR" Band

A new addition to our summer concert series, the Klemmer, Hill and Reid Band features relaxing jazz music that will be sure to entertain all by offering an exciting collaboration of some of the tri-state area’s finest instrumental musicians.

July 28, 2010 | The Mango Men

The Mango Men return again this year and will take you on the island in style through our energetic and unique blend of Rock'n'Roll with a Caribbean Soul. You can count on non-stop audience interaction from start to finish, highlighted by Jimmy Buffett-style tunes to rock favorites, with a little bit of kickin' country in the middle (nothin' too twangy!!!). We will get your guests singing, clapping, and feet moving, plus no show is complete without our ever-popular "How Low Can You Limbo" contest and our "Sing With the Band" segment.

Bus Trips

Bus trips are available through the Perkasie Borough Parks and Recreation Department. The video and restroom equipped motor coaches will pick up and drop off registered participants at the Perkasie Borough office. Unless otherwise indicated, all trips are a full day, leaving about 7 or 8 am and returning about 6 pm. All costs are per person and include transportation and trip. November 15-18, 2010 | Biltmore in Asheville, N.C.

The patatial home of George Washington Vanderbilt, America's largest house. The trip includes 4 days, 3 nights, 8 meals, 4 tours, all transportation provided by luxury motor coach, lodging accommodations are excellent.  Participants will stay at the Historic Hotel Roanoke on the way to and from the estate.  While at Biltmore, we stay at the Inn on Biltmore Estate, listed in Conde' Nast Traveler on the Gold List  of the "World's Best Hotels".  While on the Estate, we shall take the candlelight tour of the house, which is decorated for Christmas, with the option to tour it again the next day; tour the Biltmore Winery, enjoy dinner at the Stable Cafe, and lunch in the Deer Park Restaurant.

December 31, 2010 | New Year's Eve with the Philadelphia Orchestra

A beautiful dinner, glass of wine and the Fabulous Philadelphia Orchestra! What a wonderful way to celebrate New Year's Eve! Let our host take you via luxury motor coach to dinner at Positano Coast, in downtown, in downtown Philadelphia, then on to the Kimmel Center for the New Year's Eve concert by the Philadelphia Orchestra. Includes: motor coach transportation from Perkasie*, dinner with wine, Orchestra concert with very good seats , all tips and post-concert dessert.

*Note: In all cases all transportation has already been contracted for a given price, on which the above costs are set.  However, Hagey Coach, Inc., advises that the cost of motor coach charter may increase.  If there is a “spike in fuel costs” within 90 days of any tour, the price they quote will hold for any given trip.  As of this writing, no increases have been instituted.

Recreation Events

Community Garden

12'x12' and 12'x18' "year round" lots are available at the "Community Garden", 5th Street and Shadywood Drive. Initial tilling and water are provided. $25.00 per lot, $15.00 refund at the end of growing season, providing that the lot has been cleared and the water hydrant key returned. Lots will not be rolled over for the following year, so please drop off water keys and pick up deposits.

This is made possible by the generous donation of land from the Kenneth Kratz Real Estate Company and water from the Perkasie Borough Authority.

Community Yard Sale

Perkasie Borough's Sixth Annual Community Yard Sale will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2010 from 8am until 2pm in Lenape. Here's your opportunity to sell personal items you no longer want or need. Have all the benefits of a yard sale without having to advertise or hang signs! Spaces will be available to Perkasie Borough residents only. Those interested in participating must register in advance. The cost per space will be $10.00. Participants may park one vehicle in their space. this will be a rain or shine event. There will be some restrictions on the items that you will be permitted to sell. Stop in or call the Borough Office for details.  Please register by May 7, 2010.

Dash Plaques for 1st 100 cars, Participants door prizes, Food & Beverage. In a quiet park setting. Vendors of all types pay only $15 for an 8’ table space. Vendor Supplies table & Chairs. Vendors are urged to donate door prizes that will be noted in registrants packet or advertising novelties for registrants packets.

Lucky Ducky Derby

The eleventh Annual "Lucky Ducky Derby" will take place on Sunday, July 11th, 2010 - Community Day (rain date July 18th), Lenape Park. The race will begin after the canoe races in the East Branch Perkiomen Creek, by boat launch. The ducks will race to the "Twin Bridges".

First place winner will receive $100
Second place winner will receive $75
Third place winner will receive $50
Fourth thru ninth place winners will receive $25

PRIZES WILL BE AWARDED IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE RACE, SO STICK AROUND FOR THE RESULTS

Tickets for the numbered ducks may be purchased at the Perkasie Borough office or from Parks and Recreational Board members.

Cost | $3.00 each or 2 for $5.00

Fall Festival

October 3, 2010 from 12pm to 5pm at Menlo Park

Entertainment for all ages: petting zoo, demonstrations, scarecrow workshop, face painting, pie contest, sand art, pony rides, refreshments, crafters, vendors, children's rides, music, and much more!!

Craft space available - bring your own set-up
$25.00 per 10'x10' in the park

Entry blanks for these contests will be available at the Perkasie Borough Office in September and at the information booth at the Fall Festival.

Creek Sweep

First annual Creek Sweep. Looking for community service in your area? This event is open to all individuals and groups in and around the community who want to help clean our parks. this event would be held in June 2010. Our goal would be to clean up Lenape Park and the creek. At the end of the Creek Sweep we would hold a picnic lunch with a massive kickball game for all volunteers. Stop by Borough Hall for a registration form available in April.
