Perkasie Reminds Residents to Follow the Rules

The Borough of Perkasie has seen a significant rise in the cost associated with the pick up and disposal of trash and bulky items.  In order to close the gap, Public Works crews will be attempting to provide accurate and timely information to the residents of Perkasie Borough concerning the rules and regulations dealing with trash collection and the ‘pay as you throw’ program. 

This will be accomplished by leaving notes reminding residents of the regulations that have always been in place and adopted by ordinance concerning weight of bag, items which need to be in bags and also the amount placed out for collection. Crews will more closely follow the intent of the rules.  Residents are reminded that the large bags may not exceed 40 lbs. in weight while the small bags should not exceed 20 lbs.  Trash is considered ‘anything that is generated within a household’ and all these items must be placed in a Borough Bag.  The best rule to follow is ‘If it fits in a bag it must be in a Borough Bag’.
