Volunteer OpportunitiesPerkasie Borough Council seeks Borough residents who would be interested in volunteering to serve on various appointed Boards, Commissions and Authorities. The following positions offer a unique opportunity to serve your community and learn more about municipal services: 5 residents (No term) to the Property Maintenance Code Board of Appeals 1 resident for a five year term to the Perkasie Zoning Hearing Board 1 resident for a five year term the Pennridge Wastewater Treatment Authority Interested Perkasie Borough residents should apply by letter addressed to the Borough Office, 620 W. The Borough maintains a file of interested residents that is referred to from time to time as various positions become available. While several of these positions may be filled by individuals seeking reappointments, all residents are encouraged to apply for future consideration. Description of all Boards andAuthorities—VacanciesZONING HEARING BOARD-5 Year Term The ZHB performs an important function in reviewing appeals and variances to the Borough Zoning Ordinance. Board usually meets once a month on the fourth Monday ZONING HEARING BOARD ALTERNATE -3 Year Term As an alternate, an appointed resident would stand in for ZHB members that might be unable to attending hearings. The ZHB perform an important function in reviewing appeals and variances to the Borough Zoning Ordinance. The ZHB meets once a month on the fourth Monday. PERKASIE PARK AND RECREATION BOARD-3 Year Term The Board meets monthly and advised Council on many issues associated with Parks and Recreation. Members must be willing to assist at evening and weekend parks and recreation programs. YOUTH DELEGATE TO THE PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD Requirements:
Appointees shall serve a term of office concurrent with the school year. Youth Delegates are encouraged to participate in all public discussions, but may not vote. In addition to the opportunity to provide input on a variety of matters that come before the Park & recreation Board, a Youth Delegate will be able to gain familiarity with local government operations. PERKASIE BOROUGH PLANNING COMMISSION-4 Year Term This Board has the responsibility for advising Borough Council on land use planning, zoning proposals and the Borough’s Comprehensive Plan. It is a unique opportunity for individuals to serve their community and be involved with critical issues of subdivisions, zoning and planning.
PROPERTY MAINTENANCE CODE BOARD OF APPEALS (No term)-Seeking 5 residents
Volunteering to serve on the Property Maintenance Code Board of Appeals for Perkasie Borough. Requires experience in one of the desired fields: registered architect or builder or superintendent of building construction with 10 years experience, registered structural engineer or professional with architectural experience, registered mechanical or plumbing engineer experience or mechanical or plumbing contractor with 10 years experience, registered electrical engineer experience or an electrical contractor with 10 years experience, registered fire protection engineer or a fire protection contractor with 10 years experience. A more detailed list of qualifications is available at the Borough Office. The Appeals Board will serve an important quasi-judicial function in the Borough, but is not expected to meet more than a few times per year. PERKASIE BOROUGH AUTHORITY-5 Year Term This Board has the responsibility of overseeing the water and sewer utility. CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION-4 Year Term The Civil Service Commission is responsible for personnel administration for Police Officers in the Borough including oversight of testing, promotions, and review of disciplinary matters. Requirement:
Appointees shall serve a term of office concurrent with the school year. Youth Borough Councilors are encouraged to participate in all public Borough Council discussions, but may not vote. In addition to the opportunity to provide input on a variety of matters that come before Borough Council, a Youth Borough Councilor will be able to gain familiarity with local government operations. The Vacancy Board is the organization that would meet to select a candidate for Borough Council should a vacancy occurs during the regular term of office of that Council member. The Vacancy Board is composed of the remaining members of Borough Council plus one citizen member who serves as Chairman and acts as the tie breaker.
