Pool Balls

Attention Menlo Community,

It has been brought to our attention that there have been a lot of concerns regarding the most recent closure of the Leisure Pool at the Menlo Aquatics Center.

Yesterday afternoon, the Department of Health reached out regarding a patron who tested positive for Cryptosporidium that visited our facility.  The Department of Health and our protocol state to close the pool in question and super chlorinate it as a safety precaution.

At that time, we were also informed by the Department of Health that there was no need to alert the public since there was no evidence pointing to Menlo as the source.  While talking to the Department of Health this morning, it was reiterated that “there is no evidence that this positive person got Crypto from the pool, just that this person swam in the pool”.

We test our chemicals hourly to ensure they are always within safe and recommended disinfecting ranges, and we have an outside lab test the facility weekly.  During this closure, we have followed all recommendations set forth by the Department of Health, and we truly apologize for any concerns that have arisen.
