A BULKY WASTE item is something that is too big to fit into a Borough-provided wheeled cart or Borough disposal bag. Examples of Bulky Waste items include: one mattress, one box spring, one chair, one table, one vacuum cleaner, one roll of carpeting, one sofa, one toilet, one sink.

Items that can fit into a Borough cart or a Borough bag are not considered Bulky Waste. Items in non-Borough trash bags are not considered Bulky Waste.

APPLIANCES and some METAL ITEMS are a special kind of Bulky Waste. Perkasie Borough collects these items separately and recycles them whenever possible. There is a fee for the collection of Appliances & Metals. 

APPLIANCE & METALS COLLECTION

• APPLIANCES & METALS are collected on the WEDNESDAY of the first FULL WORKING WEEK of each month.
• ALL APPLIANCES & METALS cost $20 per item (including the first item).
• APPLIANCES & METALS must be prescheduled & prepaid by noon on the FRIDAY of the week before Bulk Trash Week. 

SCHEDULE APPLIANCE & METALS PICKUP

REGULAR BULKY WASTE COLLECTION

Crews will pick up the FIRST bulky waste item at NO CHARGE when it is set out ALONGSIDE a Borough toter or Borough Trash Bag. Residents have the option to pay for the pickup of ADDITIONAL bulky waste items. 

• BULKY TRASH pickup is during the first full working week of the month, on the SAME DAY we collect your regular trash.
• FIRST BULK ITEM IS FREE. Do not schedule your first bulk item. DO NOT PAY for the first bulk item. 
• SECOND AND ADDITIONAL BULK ITEMS cost $20 per item.
• SECOND AND ADDITIONAL ITEMS must be prescheduled & prepaid by noon on the FRIDAY of the week before Bulk Trash Week.

What are APPLIANCES & METALS?

APPLIANCES/METALS – Collected the WEDNESDAY of the first FULL WORKING WEEK of each month.
These items require preschedule & pre-payment

EFFECTIVE APRIL 7TH, THE FOLLOWING ITEMS MUST BE PRESCHEDULED AND PREPAID: 

• Dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, stove, wood stove, etc
• Garbage disposal, sump pump, trash compactor, pool filter
• Water heater, water softener
• Air compressor, generator, humidifier, snow blower, power washer
• Grill, microwave, oven
• Lawn mower (all kinds), weed-whacker, garden tools fitted with engine or motor (drained of oil & gas, battery removed)
• Bicycle, basketball net, treadmill, elliptical, stair climber, weights & rack, other large exercise equipment
• Wheelchair (battery removed)
• Metal cabinet, lockers etc

NOT ACCEPTED - WE WILL NOT COLLECT THESE ITEMS

Certain large items are NOT ACCEPTED as part of the Borough’s waste collection program. Some alternative ways of disposing of these items are listed on our “Alternative Disposal” page.

• Air conditioners, refrigerators, freezers or any other item containing freon
• Car or engine parts or batteries
• Sheds, outbuildings, fences, pavers, garage doors
• Construction and remodeling materials
• Mirrors, windows, glass top tables, glass storm doors or any other item with plate glass
• TV & PC monitors, VCRs, DVDs and other electronic (e-waste) items
• E-bikes, e-scooters, hoverboards, or any item containing a lithium battery
• Trampolines, pool tables, pianos
• Safes
• Brush, tree branches, stumps, or any other yard waste
• Hazardous Waste
