Perkasie

Perkasie, PA - Perkasie Borough Council is reviewing a proposed ordinance that would establish a Perkasie Borough Historical Committee, a new advisory body dedicated to the preservation and protection of historic resources throughout the Borough. Council discussed the draft ordinance at its November 17, 2025 meeting and plans to consider the ordinance for adoption at its regular meeting on Monday, December 15, 2025.

If adopted, Council will also look to appoint five volunteer members to the new committee that same evening.

The Historical Committee is designed to support and strengthen the Borough’s commitment to safeguarding its historic assets—buildings, sites, stories, and cultural resources in ways that enhance education, property values, community identity, and the general welfare of residents.

The proposed committee would serve in an advisory capacity, offering research and input to Borough Council on matters like updates to the Comprehensive Plan, maintaining the Borough’s historic resource inventory, comments on any plans that include historic elements, and suggestions for community history programs and markers.

The Historical Committee will consist of five volunteer members who either reside in Perkasie Borough or operate a business within the Borough. Members should have interests or experience in history, archaeology, or historic preservation. Members will serve four-year terms, with staggered initial term lengths to ensure continuity.

Perkasie Borough invites interested residents and business owners to apply for one of the five volunteer positions on the Historical Committee. Applicants should use the Citizen Board Application Form on the Borough’s website and submit it to admin@perkasieborough.org no later than 4:00pm on Friday December 5th.

The full text of the draft ordinance is available here for review and at Borough Hall.  Residents may attend the December 15th meeting to learn more or provide public comment.
